The Academy is a one-year intensive programme of development, learning, discipleship and building multi-site church.
We believe every person has the spirit of a champion inside of them, and the Academy is designed as a pathway to release you into the plans and purposes that God has for you. It’s an intense year of discovering who you are and what God has for you, whilst also serving in the ever- expanding and growing multi-site work of Everyday Champions Church.
The heart of Everyday Champions is for each and every one of us to discover who we are in Christ so that we can go on and do extraordinary things that make Jesus’ name famous in our time and generation.
With a mix of theoretical training, personal development and practical outworking, the Academy is a year that will change your life.
Personal Development
Theoretical Training
Our theoretical training is focused on giving each intern a biblical foundation to help them achieve the outcomes that God has for them. We do this primarily through lectures, teaching, assignments and devotionals.
Personal Coaching
Throughout the Academy, emphasis is given to the development of the individual and to bringing out the champion within them through personal coaching and development with members of the Everyday Champions team.
Reading Lists
We believe that ‘leaders are readers’, and each intern will receive a reading list for their time at the Academy. Each intern will read a mixture of specifically chosen books that will help progress their learning and development. Assignments will also be completed on these books.
Church Building
The Academy is also about giving you an insight into the nuts and bolts of church life, and so we offer a variety of opportunities to be part of this.
Each Academy intern will be involved in:
- Youth programmes
- Kids’ programmes
- Community projects
- EC* business opportunities
Also as part of the Academy there are optional special streams you could choose to be part of, which are:
- Administration
- Media
- Worship
As an Academy intern you will also be involved in a variety of other practical aspects of church life including:
- Sunday and weekday services
- Servanthood
- EC* conferences
- Mission(s)
When
The Academy runs over an academic year starting on Monday 10th September through to Friday 19th July 2013.
Where
The Academy gives you the opportunity to work at all our Everyday Champions campuses, but your main base will be at our Newark campus.
Fees
The cost of the Academy is £750 for the full year plus a £25 application fee. This can be paid in either of the following ways:
- In full: The Academy can be paid for in full prior to starting.
- Monthly: You can choose to spread the cost of The Academy. This is done with an £150 initial payment prior to starting, and then 7 monthly payments by direct debit of £75.
General Living Costs
We would encourage all interns to budget £300 - £400 a month for living costs to cover such needs as food, transport, bills, telephone and personal spending.
We do plan the course so that it does provide time for interns to take up part-time work should they so wish.
Age
Anyone aged 16 plus can apply for The Academy.
The Academy does not have criteria of entry regarding academic requirements. However we would expect each intern to be:
- A committed Christian with a passion to build local church.
- Able to provide a reference from a local church leader.
- Able to have a clear understanding of how they will finance themselves throughout the year
Accommodation
Individual needs for accommodation are discussed at interview stage. There are a variety of potential options for interns, such as room rentals and house sharing.
